Kick Disability Discrimination into Touch

Scotland and British Lions rugby star, Chris Cusiter, today called on Scottish businesses to kick discrimination into touch.

Speaking as he launched the annual Scottish Disability & Business Award presented by Leonard Cheshire Scotland in association with Gillespie Macandrew LLP, the Scotland scrum half said:
"It has never been easier for Scottish businesses to kick discrimination into touch. More and more companies are awake to the opportunities of working with disabled people and I hope they will put themselves forward to be Scotland's 2006 disability friendly business."

Director of Leonard Cheshire Scotland, Stephen Neale, said:
"There are many examples of disability friendly businesses in Scotland that deserve recognition. We are proud to be launching the fifth annual Scottish Disability & Business Award in recognition of those companies that have gone the extra mile to include disabled people as both customers and employees".

The award is sponsored by Gillespie Macandrew LLP and Derek McCulloch, Head of
Corporate & Business Law, said:
"Being disability friendly is about more than physical access to buildings and services, it is about customer care, recruiting and retaining the best staff and including disabled people in all areas of your business".
