Training and development
Our people make Gillespie Macandrew the success that it is.
Gillespie Macandrew is an Authorised Provider of PEAT 2 Trainee CPD under The Law Society of Scotland's PEAT 2 licensing scheme. Therefore, over the course of the two year traineeship our trainees benefit from a minimum of 60 hours of tailor-made Trainee CPD from our Solicitors, many of whom are Accredited Specialists in their chosen fields. All Trainee CPD is delivered in line with the PEAT 2 Learning Outcomes which cover;
- Professionalism
- Professional Communication
- Professional Ethics & Standards
- Business, Commercial, Financial & Practice Awareness.
In addition, there are many opportunities for external learning and development, dependant upon need. We will ensure that your skills are developed, your knowledge expanded and your expertise continually refined in order that you are fully equipped to perform your role with confidence.
At the beginning of the traineeship in September you will take part in a comprehensive induction process to provide you with all the information you need to get off to a good start at Gillespie Macandrew. Examples of the sort of training topics that are included in our induction process are listed below:
- IT and Word Processing
- Finance and Cashroom procedures
- Communication Skills
- Ethics
- Risk Management
Your career development is as important to us as it is to you and our on-going training plays an important role in this.
Throughout your traineeship, you will have quarterly performance reviews which provide an opportunity to discuss your achievements, strengths and any areas for development. These reviews will also give you the opportunity to tell us your perspective on your experiences, something which we very much value and can learn from.
"I was very impressed with the amount of training we were given in the first
few months, the level of support, and how friendly everyone is within the firm"
Lois Browning, Trainee
