Christian specialises in tax and estate planning and advises
individuals on succession, capital tax mitigation, trust law,
charity law, and asset protection.
Following graduation from the University of Dundee and the Royal
Military Academy Sandhurst, Christian completed his legal studies
at the University of Edinburgh. A traineeship followed with Brodies
LLP where he was assumed as a partner in 2003. Christian
joined Gillespie Macandrew LLP as a partner in 2005.
A member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners,
Christian is a former member of the Investor Protection Committee
of the Law Society of Scotland, was a nominated Foreign and
Commonwealth Office Secondee to OSCE, and holds corporate
directorships both north and south of the Border. He has spoken
frequently at specialist conferences and regularly contributes
articles to professional journals such as "Trust Quarterly
Review".
Chambers 2008 describes Christian as an "excellent, cost
effective and thorough lawyer" with "a growing reputation
for trust and tax matters. He knows everything inside-out and can
put it across to a layperson." Christian is noted as a Key
Individual in Chambers 2009 and "receives praise for his
expertise".
Amongst his external interests Christian includes music,
mountains, and motorcycle touring.
