Partner, Commercial Property
Hazel is a Partner within the Energy, Climate Change &
Natural Resources Group. She has extensive experience in energy
related property work including Onshore Wind, Hydro, Wave, Tidal,
and Offshore Wind projects.
Prior to joining the firm
Hazel spent time working in house with a large utility company and
has significant demonstrable experience of supporting teams
developing and constructing projects from the very initial stages
through to construction to operational sites. In addition
Hazel has been involved on numerous acquisitions and disposals of
onshore wind schemes and has been actively involved in the property
aspects of funding such deals.
Over recent years Hazel has
also worked on the submission of bids for areas of seabed being
tendered by the Crown Estate and in addition has negotiated the
final suites of property agreements arising from successful bids
required for Round 3 and Scottish Territorial Waters. She has
also been involved in the property aspects of transferring assets
to Offshore Transmission Operators.
In addition to Hazel's
application of her legal knowledge and experience of transactions
on a daily basis she is also able to project manage the delivery of
legal support to large scale and complex renewable energy projects
at all stages. This involves team and individual workflow
management accompanied by regular reporting to clients in a concise
and useful manner.
Hazel has a practical and
pragmatic approach to the multitude of challenges which inevitably
arise in these types of projects. Her ability to identify the key
issues that really matter to a project and her understanding of the
detail and the wider strategic context within which the project
sits mean she can provide well timed, practical and
relevant advice.
