Inheritance, trusts & tax planning

We will help you to arrange your financial affairs in the most tax efficient way to provide you with peace of mind, and the reassurance that during your life or following your death you and your family will be paying the right amount of tax.

The taxation system in the UK is renowned for its complexity and fluidity. Our Tax Team, led by John McArthur, a solicitor and Chartered Tax Advisor, can advise on how to organise your financial and legal affairs so that you pay the right amount of tax. The Team advises on the full range of tax planning options for trustees, executors, individuals, farmers, business and landed estate owners, partners, directors and charities, including offshore and ex-pat arrangements, trusts and gift aid.

With our own tax compliance and dedicated trust administration team, we're ideally equipped to advise on setting up and subsequently administering trusts of all types.

Tax returns

"Which box do these figures go in?" is a question often asked when an Income Tax return is being completed.  At least when it comes to tax, we all have one thing in common: we have to lodge a tax return and pay it.

The Gillespie Macandrew Tax Team has a wealth of experience and is ready to assist in completing your tax return. You will be assigned a dedicated adviser for your personal, capital gains and trust tax return needs to ensure that you pay only the correct tax due - and, who knows, receive any tax refunds that may be due to you.

The team also ensures that the less glamorous work is taken care of, like meeting HMRC deadlines for the lodging of returns.
