Trading, supply chain & M&A
We act for both power generators and intensive energy and natural resources users.
We’re well-versed in the regulatory and planning impacts on these businesses and use this to help sectors and their supply chains, advising on trading contracts, due diligence and portfolio acquisitions.
Power Purchase agreements, trading and reactive services contracts
If you’re a developer, funder or intermediary, we provide advice on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), meter operator agreements and site management agreements.
Representing major industrials and generators as well as intensive energy users we have experience in trading electricity and gas, derivative contracts, lucrative frequency response and reactive services arrangements.
Portfolio Mergers & Acquisitions, Due Diligence & Finance
We provide legal advice on all aspects of M&A and due diligence projects for developers, funds and utilities in both Scotland and England.
We have considerable experience with complex and high profile transactions - for example having acted in the £330m M&A sale of a smelter, hydro power stations and port facility operations company.
Our multi-disciplinary approach and ability to project manage complex projects means we can support major repowering and leasing or sale transactions.
Supply chain - local and cross border
Our understanding of the supply chain comes from our experience in advising the industry on raw material and service supply contacts. We’ve refined this to deal with the energy, infrastructure & natural resources sector ranging from long term fuel supply to biomass; to electricity bulk supply and sale contracts.
Our expertise includes engineering, consultancy and supply contracts under LOGIC and FIDIC international styles, as well as UK ICE and Construction and Infrastructure models.
We advise across the UK and have the facility to call on our international network of law firms which enables us to assist with cross-border contracts. Examples include a £50m supply of generation and transformer equipment from various countries to the UK; and £50-100m steel supply contracts to offshore windfarms.
