After completing her two year traineeship with the firm and recently qualifying as an NQ, we spoke with Ashley and asked her some questions about her experience so far at Gillespie Macandrew.
What were your first impressions of GM?
I instantly felt welcomed. From the moment I walked into the office, everyone I spoke to could not have been friendlier.
What three words would you use to describe GM?
The three words I would use to describe GM would be welcoming, experts and professional.
What is the best thing about working at GM?
To me the best thing about working at GM is the people. Not just because they create a warm and friendly atmosphere but also because of the depth of knowledge and expertise they hold which makes it a great place to learn and develop.
What has been the most challenging?
Moving from seat to seat during your traineeship is one of the biggest challenges. You are taken out of your comfort zone and placed in a department you may know nothing or little about which means you have to learn and adapt often very quickly.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of applying?
Be yourself and be open to trying new areas of practice you may not necessarily have at the top of your list. It is amazing the skills and knowledge you learn from being in different departments which are transferable to other areas of law.
