He also has an interest in cross-border issues providing advice to non-UK domiciled individuals and trusts.

Austen is an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioner (STEP) having gained the STEP diploma in Estate Planning receiving distinction for both the STEP Advance Certificate in Trusts: Law and Practice and the STEP: Advance Certificate in Taxation of Trusts and Estates (Scotland). He also completed the STEP: Advanced Certificate in UK Tax for International Clients.
