Sarah-Jane Macdonald

Whilst Sarah-Jane advises on all aspects of Private Client law, she has a particular interest in trust law and contentious trusts and estates, with experience in alternative dispute resolution for executors and trustees.
Sarah-Jane has had various successes with mediation and is keen to promote its use and advise clients or other practitioners considering this route. She also recently won the Core @ 20 Mediation Challenge in 2021.
She advises on various intricate trust matters, including tax efficient methods of passing assets to the next generation in what can be largescale restructures of estates and the variation of trust deeds via the court where appropriate.
Sarah-Jane is also a full member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners and sits on the “STEP” Scotland Committee. She previously attained both the STEP Diploma, and an Advanced Certificate in Trust Disputes with Distinction and won a STEP Worldwide Excellence Award for her Trusts exam.
Sarah-Jane authored “A Practical Guide to Legal Rights in Scotland” which was published in January 2022.
