Leading Scottish law firm, Gillespie Macandrew has promoted experienced rural lawyer Lois Newton to partner.  Lois joined the firm as a trainee in 2010 and participated in the firm’s Training Academy.  Lois manages a wide range of rural matters on behalf of the firm’s farming and landed estate clients and is a member of the firm’s sustainability committee.

Gillespie Macandrew’s Land & Rural Business team is a leading advisor to the rural sector advising estate owners, farmers and rural businesses on a property, succession, tax, forestry, renewable energy and natural capital.  The team is consistently ranked in the top tier by the legal directories and this latest appointment will bring the number of partners in the team to six.

Chief Executive Officer Robert Graham-Campbell commented: “We are extremely proud to appoint Lois to our partnership.  It is a thoroughly deserved promotion in recognition of her hard work in continuing to develop the reputation of our leading rural team.”

Head of the Gillespie Macandrew’s Land & Rural Business team Robert Scott-Dempster added: “Lois is an exceptional rural lawyer and well-regarded across the sector and her promotion reflects our commitment to investing in and developing our team.”

The firm has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth and advises clients on all areas of land and rural business, private client, commercial real estate, energy, tax and disputes, combining a personal approach with industry-leading expertise.
