Gillian’s recent legal practice area has focused on the commercial property and energy real estate sector with experience spanning commercial, residential (both private and housebuilder clients), rural and estates and energy. This allows her to take ownership of matters with great independence from start to finish, particularly on volume and case management work and to assist the team in a variety of larger projects including renewable energy and strategic land matters.

England & Wales

  • Dealing with a voluntary first registration of an Estate in England;
  • Buying and selling English residential property;
  • Assisting team in all Land Registry and post registration matters;
  • Assisting England & Wales team with property due diligence in relation to proposed cable routes from landfall to converter station to grid;
  • Re-finance work in connection with high-net-worth English residential properties;
  • Assisting with due diligence in relation to the English property matters in cross border portfolio matters;
  • Assisting with general property matters both leasehold and freehold.

Scotland

  • Currently on a prolonged 2 year part time secondment to a major utility in house legal team advising and supporting on an extensive and critical voluntary registration project, and liaising with the Registrar’s office and personnel;
  • Assisting in solar rooftop portfolio re-finance dealing with the Scottish Real Estate element;
  • Assisting with due diligence on solar and battery storage options to lease;
  • Acting for landowner granting substation subleases to IDNOs in connection with EV charging sites;
  • Acting for a large energy provider in securing land for substation sites and also Deeds of Servitudes for overhead and underground cabling.
