Jack Cuthbertson
Solicitor, Energy & Strategic Land
Jack is a solicitor in our Energy and Strategic Land team. He is involved in a variety of work including large-scale energy projects and strategic land matters as well as assisting energy companies with their network infrastructure, substations and connections arrangements across Scotland. Jack also assists with matters in relation to the strategic development of land for housing and commercial use.
Sector experience includes:
- Involvement with a Compulsory Purchase Order in relation to an onshore cable corridor for a 4.1GW offshore wind farm both from a property and planning law perspective having been involved in the project in two of his training seats and now as a qualified solicitor;
- Acting for a network operator in the acquisition of land rights for substation connections required for housing developments, distilleries, schools, EV chargers and other development sites across Scotland;
- Acting for developers acquiring rights for solar farms and battery storage projects along with rights for grid connection routes;
- Providing title due diligence for a network operator’s future national grid upgrade project;
- Acting for strategic landowners in negotiating Option Agreements and Leases for solar farm and battery storage projects across Scotland;
- Assisting in acting for landowner in relation to development of Tornagrain, a new town designed to be a community of 5000 dwellings with schools, shops, employment and infrastructure.
