Gillespie Macandrew has an excellent opportunity for an AML Analyst to join our AML & Client On-Boarding team based in our Edinburgh office. The role is to provide high quality Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance support and assistance to the department and Fee Earners within the Firm, to achieve service delivery expectations in a timely and accurate manner.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Some of the duties will include:
- Assist the team in achieving Anti Money Laundering compliance in line with the Money Laundering Regulations, Legal Sector Affinity Guidance and internal Policies, Controls and Procedures.
- Conduct required client due diligence checks in line with the Firm’s Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Client On-Boarding policies, controls and procedures.
- Review relevant client due diligence documentation, information and evidence.
- Work with others including the AML & Client On-Boarding Team Manager to review and develop AML business processes for the Firm supporting operational process improvement.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date Client ID on file and assisting with ongoing monitoring checks using the Firms electronic Identification and Verification tool.
- Conducting searches on public registers and other research to assist in identifying and verifying the identity of clients of the Firm.
- Identify the existence of any potential AML issues and escalate such issues to the AML & Client On-Boarding Team Manager/DMLRO/MLRO as required.
- Assist with preparation of file reviews and matter inception reports as well oversee file closures.
Person specification:
- Team player who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships both with internal and external parties.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to research information thoroughly and to be able to record outcomes clearly and concisely.
- The ability to prioritise and make balanced decisions, follow through on decisions made and anticipate future risks, whilst taking any appropriate action to address any identified risks.
- The ability to effectively plan and manage a high and varied workload with the ability to re-focus aims and priorities to meet changing business needs where appropriate.
- Excellent IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledge and experience of 3E, AMIQUS and/or other Legal Practice Management Systems is desirable.
