Tessa is a commercial real estate specialist, focussing on the land aspects of renewable energy projects. Tessa has a broad range of experience in the energy sector, dealing with solar farms, battery storage projects, onshore wind, onshoring land requirements for offshore wind and co-location projects involving multiple renewable energy technologies.
Sector experience includes:
- Acting for a developer of a proposed co-located solar, battery and hydrogen project in securing land rights;
- Acting for a developer of an existing onshore wind project in acquiring the land rights needed to facilitate a re-power and extension of the existing scheme;
- Assisting with securing land rights required for an onshore cable corridor for a +4 GW offshore wind farm;
- Exercising option agreements to facilitate the development of a 50MW solar project;
- Acting for a developer of a multi-landowner onshore wind project from heads of terms stage onwards;
- Acting for a developer in securing the land rights required for a cable corridor for a large solar farm to allow grid connection.
In addition to her energy work, Tessa also has significant experience in all aspects of real estate matters, including landlord and tenant work, development, investment and secured lending. Tessa is qualified in both Scotland and in England & Wales, and has practised law both North and South of the border. She spent eight years with a leading commercial firm in the North of England and consequently has a genuine depth of understanding of English and Welsh commercial real estate transactions.
